Submar recently introduced a new product set to revolutionize the pipeline erosion control industry. Intorducing Armadune wind mats. Armadune helps companies who face erosion concerns in sandy, desert environments.
Armadune Wind Mat Design
Armadune wind mats feature tapered cells that help to collect sediment in areas that are dry or sandy. Meanwhile, an exterior excelsior matrix gathers moisture. When the collected moisture combines with the sediment, plants and vegetation begin to grow.
Vegetation may have difficulty growing in sandy environments because of both the soil conditions and wind. With sand being blown around continually, root systems may struggle to take hold. Fortunately, Armadune wind mats address both of these problems, as the grid system provides vegetation the necessary conditions.
Over time, vegetation will grow around the pipeline, thanks to the Armadune wind mats. Not only is the pipe protected from the sun as a result, but it is also protected from the elements, including harsh, grainy winds. Using Armadune wind mats at the beginning of your project would likely cut down significant repair costs in the future.
The Armadune wind mats come in three standard sizes:
• 8’ x 20’
• 8’ x 40’
• 8’ x 60’
Installing the Armadune Wind Mats
Submar works with you to install your new Armadune wind mats. Submar will pick the mats upon a skid steer and straddle the pipeline. Once properly in place, the Submar operator will set the wind mat down gently. Then, with the assistance of an excavator, Submar team members roll the wind mats out by hand.
Submar has already made improvements to this product, recently coming up with a new design to help with the installation process. Shortly, Submar will begin rolling the wind mats on a tube and using spreader bars. This will prevent the need to move the mats by hand and will streamline the installation process.
